Lee Mead to join 'Sister Act' West End cast

The London theatre veteran will join Ruth Jones, Alexandra Burke, and more in the musical based on the hit movie, which currently stars Beverley Knight.

Make a joyful noise! West End favourite Lee Mead will join the cast of Sister Act at the Dominion Theatre this June.

Mead is best known for his West End performances in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Legally Blonde, Wicked, and, most recently, We Will Rock You at the London Coliseum.

In Sister Act, he will step into the role of Eddie Souther. Current performer Clive Rowe will play his final performance in the role on 8 June, with Mead stepping in on 10 June.

Additionally, Ruth Jones, who currently stars as Mother Superior, has extended her run in the show until Saturday 3 August. The current cast also includes Beverley Knight as Deloris Van Cartier, Lesley Joseph as Sister Mary Lazarus, Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert, Lemar as Curtis Jackson, Alison Jiear as Sister Mary Patrick, and Carl Mullaney as Monsignor O’Hara.

Knight will also depart the show on 8 June, and Alexandra Burke will play the role of Deloris through the show's scheduled closing on 31 August.
